Admission Into Our Mainstream Classes Including Our Reception Class

Woolston CP is an inclusive school. We have a welcoming community and embrace the diversity that children can bring. Admission into our school’s reception class is managed by Warrington Borough Council’s admissions department and details can be found on their website.  The One Community Trust is the admission authority for Woolston Community Primary School.

Thirty children are admitted into our Reception class each year. Children can also be admitted into our other classes if there are spare places.

Admission Arrangements: Designated Provision Classes

Woolston Community Primary has two Designated Provision classes for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

  • An eight place KS1 provision for children with ASD aged 4-7 (Owlets).
  • An eight place KS2 Designated Provision for with ASD children aged 7-11 (Owls).

All the children in both the key stage 1 and the key stage 2 Designated Provision have an Education and Health Care Plan (E.H.C.P.) and a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Places in the two Designated Provision classes are funded separately from the mainstream budget to ensure that we can meet the needs of the children effectively. Places are allocated by the Local Authority (not the school).

Warrington Local Authority’s Inclusion Service has full responsibility for admissions into our Designated Provision classes. Admission is considered for children who have a diagnosed autism spectrum condition, an EHC Plan and who live in Warrington.

We welcome visits to the school from prospective parents and are keen to talk to parents of children with SEND to discuss our offer and answer any questions they may have.
